Episode 12: Putting yourself in a winning environment with chef Jawed Halepota

“I have a deep life long love for food.” -Jawed Halepota

Welcome back Story Tellers! Today’s main character is chef Jawed Halepota (@ja_wed_chef).

A former high-school dropout, Jawed has built lifelong relationships which have afforded him the opportunity to travel to Europe and South America as personal chef to former NY Knick, Kevin Seraphin,  execute private dinner parties for members of the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots, and most recently, become the personal chef to Marcus Smart of the Boston Celtics.

Jawed credits much of his success to building strong relationships, surrounding himself with winners, and taking full advantage of life changing opportunities that come his way.

EPISODE UPDATE:

As of this recording, I’m pleased to share that Jawed has also become the personal chef to Boston Celtics starting guard, Jaylen Brown. Please join me in congratulating Jawed and wishing him continued success. Jawed and I are in the process of scheduling a part 2 interview once the season is over.  Stay Tuned!

JAWED’S PAN SEARED SCALLOPS WITH GARLIC-HERB LINGUINE

Ingredients

Scallops
Spaghetti, Linguine, Angel Hair or Bucatini
Olive Oil
Butter
Oregano
Parsley
Crushed Red Pepper
Garlic

Steps

1.  Boil large pot of water, season water with salt.  Water should taste of salt but not to the point that it tastes like salt water, this is the only time during the cooking process that you can season your pasta.  Add pasta once boiling and cook according to package instructions.
2.  .Preheat non stick pan to medium high heat.
3.  Add a tablespoon of Olive Oil and a table spoon of butter to your pan then add scallops to pan for searing.  Let scallops brown on one side and flip your scallops once and cook until brown on both sides.  Reserve scallops but do not clean the pan.
4.  Add oregano, parsley, crushed red pepper and garlic to pan.
5.  Remove pasta from water and toss directly into same pan with reserved butter/olive oil/oregano/parsley/crushed red pepper/garlic that scallops were cooked in.  Dress the pasta like a salad rather than drenching the pasta in the reserved “sauce”.
6.  Serve Pasta with your scallops and enjoy with a nice salad and white wine or beverage of your choice.
